Uncategorized Nurses get overlooked far too often and I’m here to remind everyone of just how much they do for us. A few days ago I has a bad case of bacterial Parotitis aka The Mumps (what? Who over the age of 12 gets the mumps these days?)–not even close to a big deal, but still had to have 2 IV drips twice a day: 12:00 pm and 12:00 am for three days. Lots of morphine, relaxants and all that old stuff. I saw the doctor a mere 3 times in the 20 or so times I saw the nurses. Now I’m not saying anything against doctors.. I love doctors, I wanted to be a doctor for goodness sake. I mean they are the most important piece to the get-better-puzzle, but what I find a lot of us tend to overlook are the nurses. The doctor was very busy as he was the only one working in the ER at the time so I’m not harping on him AT ALL. I would just like to take the opportunity to thank the nurses out there who do so much for us. They have such an important job; caring for the patient. Those relationships aren’t built with the doctors, but with the nurses. You don’t find yourself pressing a button and seeing the doctor appear. The nurses are the people who are following your every move and catering to your needs, and putting IV’s in your arm, giving you needles, checking blood pressure, etc. they do the doctors dirty work in a sense and for that, and for EVERYTHING, I thank all you nurses out there. Without you, nobody would be able to have a full recovery. Thanks for caring xx Posted on April 21, 2014 by amy Continue reading →
