She was a gal from my class who hung out with me at lunch to do math, that she didn’t like to do :) Over time we got to know each other quite well. In September of 2007 , my brother passed away. One day a few days after he died there was a knock at my door. When I saw this beautiful girl, with a huge bouquet in her arms, crying for me and my loss, it just took my breath away. I will never forget opening the door and us hugging on my step, ever. Today she’s a mom, and has moved on out of my classroom. I will always remember that moment and the many other moments that we shared. I’m so lucky to have been a part of her life. Xox

Today my post is about a past student who ‘a bday is today. We met when she was in my grade 9 math class, needless to say she was much more interested in putting on her make up than anything else ( right Carley :). We did not see eye to eye on much in that year …. However I coached her in soccer so we kind of bridged a gap there. I coached her till she graduated, over that time I got to know what a great and fun person she was. She is nearing the end of her education and I am so jacked that she will joining me in this journey. She is an advocate, a rockstar for youth being who they are while at the same time being respectful and hard working. Today as she is well into her twenties all I can think is how lucky I am to have her in my life. Happy Birthday my very dear and inspirational friend!
