My heart truly goes out to all family and friends of the three RCMP officers killed in Moncton. There are so many devastating tragedies happening these days. Remember that life is temporary…You never know when your last day on this earth could be. So treat others with sincere kindness…even a stranger on the street, because you never know what that person may be going through in their life. Love all as you want to be loved and appreciate the simple things in life

A few days ago, my friend and I decided to do a random good deed and pay for the person’s meal behind us in the drive-thru. We gave a card with the payment for that person to read. It said, “Please do a good deed, whatever it may be. Pass this card to that person and tell them to do the same. Pay it forward”. Later that night, I was studying in Tim Horton’s when an elderly man approached me, gave me $9 in change and said, “Here buy yourself something to eat”. He was very set on buying me something so I ended up buying us both a donut and giving him back the rest of the money. I then sat and talked with him for 30 minutes about everything you can imagine. We talked about how sad it is that the world now a days revolves around money and we tend to forget that the most important things in life are family, friends, love and happiness. He was one of the most kindhearted, caring people I have ever talked to…I wasn’t 100% sure, but near the end of the conversation I started to realize that he was in fact a homeless man. Before I left I bought him a big soup and gave him a hug goodbye. I told him it’s nice to know there are still good pure people like him left in the world. When I got home, I laid in bed thinking about all the things I have in my life…a car, a bed, clothes, food, even just a roof over my head. Things we often take for granted, that others are not as fortune to have. I couldn’t help but cry, just thinking about how hard life must be for him and how I need to appreciate the little things in life more. Money cannot buy you happiness. Happiness comes from giving to others; even if you don’t have much to give.. Show your family and friends every day how much you love and appreciate them. Smile at a stranger. Open up your heart to others; who knows what struggles they may be going through in their life. And remember that we complain about such small things…when someone else is thankful for much less than what you have. Treat others with the kindness and respect you want in return. His small act of kindness made my day. I have a feeling it made his too.
