Happy Mothers Day to the strongest, hardest working, most loving person I know. You deserve more than just a day. Even though we don’t always agree on things, I appreciate all that you’ve taught me, and I hope one day when I’m a mom that I’m as good as you. Happy Mothers Day Mom. Appreciate your moms, aunts, and grandmas today. They do a whole lot for us and they deserve the world. Thank-you moms of the world for showing us how strong and independent women can be :two_women_holding_hands:

Today I walked for MS. Statistically, Manitobans are more prone to getting MS, and people who are in their 20’s-30’s are the majority effected by this terrible disease. Today I walked for Sara. She is my best friend Jacklyn’s sister in law and was diagnosed with MS last year at the early age of 26. It has been a tough year for Sara but she has made incredible progress and is doing better every day. Today, she walked the full 2.5 k with her walker, which is awesome because she was in a wheelchair a mere couple months ago. I am so proud of her and her great support team “May the 4th be with you” who have raised $5,250.00 for MS research and are the 8th team who have raised the most money for the walk. I’m happy to have contributed to the research, raising $80 for Sara and to have walked and crossed the finish line with her and her family. Today I walked for Sara, every step matters! :feet:❤️

A girl that I was working with in grade 7 has type 1 diabetes and I got to help her through her struggles of school dealing with her diabetes and her problems associated with it. On Monday was our last day together and she made me a card. It feels good knowing the kids will miss not being around, but luckily I will see the girls in September! You can watch Jayda’s journey with type 1 diabetes on YouTube by searching “Jayda’s journey with type 1 diabetes”

Today is Earth Day. It’s important to remember what the Planet we live on provides for us. Today is the day to give back (even though we should everyday) Don’t use electricity for a couple hours, make a pledge to recycle more, try to use less plastic and more reusable materials like cloth grocery bags or glass water bottles. Every little change counts. Lets try to keep our planet clean and happy, it’s the only one we got :earth_africa:❤️:ocean:

What would I do without my boyfriend Andrew. He is my biggest supporter and cheerleader and believes in my through all my endeavors. He knew that I have been studying all weekend for my last final exam that I have this afternoon and left me some treats, Starbucks, and some reading material at my door. This isn’t the first time either. Last semester when I was very stressed about a particular exam, the night before he brought over Starbucks and flowers. I am so grateful to have someone like him in my life who is always there for me, and cares about me. I am so thankful for you @andrewmatthes :couple_with_heart:

My Opa inspires me every day. He’s one of the best men in my life. He has always worked super hard for everything he has, and cares about his family and grandchildren more than anything. He would literally do anything for me. He has been married to my Oma for 60 years and they still act like a young couple in love. That by itself is inspiring enough. He will drive me to work on days where I would be taking the bus. He will call me every couple of days just to check up on me. Every time I see him he tries to slip me 20$ so I can buy a coffee. If I ever need anything, or am in trouble, my Opa is the first person I call. I don’t know what I would do without my Opa and I’m forever grateful for having him in my life :older_man:❤️:princess:

On Thursday it was my last class with the kids from West View. It was heartbreaking to leave them, and especially seeing the look of sadness (some even cried) from seeing them for the last time. Even though I was sad to leave them too, it was satisfying leaving knowing I impacted some of their lives enough for them to be upset that they no longer will see me every week. I hope to continue to see the positive impacts I’ve made on children’s lives through out the program. That’s the biggest reward of all.
