Uncategorized It is so natural for us to crave external gratification & wait for future comfort when in reality everything is manifested from ourselves. We see the world as we are & the world around us reacts to the intent & energy we provide it with. I have felt so empty lately & i could not help but try to fill that void with external stimulus– other people, activities, food, you name it. But in the end if you’re empty, the world is missing a piece of itself. I found myself staring into another person & waiting for them to fill me with light, joy, love- only to find that they could only reflect the hollowness in my own soul. All the love in the world can be given to you but if your eyes do not have the vision to see it then it will pass you by or present itself as something lesser. You are your responsibility because only you can change your outlook. Only you can intensify your energy & cleanse your spirit. Only you. It’s a beautiful concept. No one can take away your happiness therefore they cannot give you it. You can only reflect yourself on others & increase your experience through them. Uncategorized As I circle the sun for the 20th time in midst of the celebratory birthday wishes I realized how peculiar birthdays are! Congratulations for orbiting the sun yet again. Congratulations for surviving! Woo! The funniest thing to witness is the sheer shock when people find out it’s your birthday: “Oh my god! Really?! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” It’s a nice gesture between humans & I don’t see any negativity but I do feel emptiness in many words passed & the whole idea of birthdays. Yes it’s another year but how interesting would it be to celebrate the real monumental life experiences we have?! “Hey! It’s been 3 years since you & I had that conversation that opened our eyes” “Today makes 6 months of me transitioning into this new healthy life style!” “Congrats! It’s been a whole year since the day you went through hell & now you’re here!” These moments in life are what make days like today what they are. I take birthdays and holidays as a reflective period of what is actually being celebrated which is why I usually keep calm & sometimes quiet about my birthday. If you know you know, if not then that’s okay too. I don’t need to be spoiled & broadcasted in order to feel my existence appreciated but for those who genuinely feel that I matter enough to celebrat it their words & efforts are appreciated more than they’ll ever know. Uncategorized Joining my Greek organization ( Phi Sigma Sigma) was one of my biggest serendipities. I knew my love for service was something I couldn’t escape but I never could have imagined how adopting it into my life as a habit, hobby & pass time activity would manifest itself into finding genuine, intelligent, caring people seeing beauty in me as I see in them. I found organizations helping causes I always felt no one cared about. I realized I didn’t need to be rich to make a change. I realized I was so fortunate to be in my position that by sacrificing my time & efforts all that I lost was time & effort to help those less fortunate. I never would have imagined to witness all the beauty around me. People may think we come to do what we do for superficial reasons & I’m sure there are some who stick around more for the partying than for the cause but there’s also future movers, changers, leaders & first steps into a revolution. Who knows if any great change comes from our actions later in time. Either way, I’m sure the intent itself is potent enough to send a ripple to the cosmos.
